Jesus part one

JESUS More than a historical figure, more that a religious symbol, more that a person who lived two thousand years ago. Jesus himself, in person, up close. Jesus walking and talking with me, Jesus living inside of me! When you meet Him you know Him, Its like you've known Him forever and yet, its like you just met. To know Him is to love Him. Then all you want to do is know Him more. What were you thinking when you died for me? What do you think about me now. What do you want me to do? When the apostle Paul was on his way to kill the believers or at best have them put in jail. It didn't matter if they were men or women. And he actually thought he was doing God a favor. Then Jesus appears to him and knocks him to the ground. You can only imagine what it’s like to get floored by God himself. When Paul finally speaks he asks Jesus two questions; first “Who are you”. I want to know you, I need to know you. Who are you Lord? Where did you come from? What brought you here and why me? The second question was “What do you want me to do”? Ive been doing what I thought was good, I thought I was pleasing you but you knocked me to the ground. I must be doing something wrong. What do you want me to do? Show me Lord, I want to know your will I want to do your will. Something just happened inside of me when you knocked me to the ground. I realized that I need to know you and I realized that I don't have all the answers but you do. His reply “I am Jesus”. He wants us to know Him and He wants us to know His will. We know that this Jesus is the originator of Christmas. Born on Christmas day, what a story that is. Songs have been sung about it, sermons preached, books written, and still I don’t think that any of us have grasped the full scope of this astronomical supernatural event. Even as I pen these words, I know that I will never be able to portray the scale of this one event. The incarnation of God! Yes God becoming man, the creator, the Omni - God became a man. How did that happen and the greater mystery is why did this happen. He had no need, He had no psychological, psycological or emotional need to fulfill. God was and is complete in himself. Was it a sense of responsibility to His creation, was it pity? Was it to prove Himself as the God who cannot fail? Q- Why did He become a man? A- Because it was the only way he could redeem His most loved possession. We are the only part of creation made in His own image. So He lays down His deity. He removes it like a robe, everything about Him that made Him God, His omni. He could have descended as a man, I mean He can do anything, right? But He came as a child born of a woman. Then think about it, not born in a palace but born in a stable. He, God is born into a hostile world. Right from the beginning His life is in danger. Herod wants to kill Him. And then He lives most of His life in virtual obscurity. The stepson of a carpenter. Working with His hands living a normal Jewish family life. We catch a glimpse of Him when He is twelve years old. He is at the temple, we catch a glimpse of His wisdom, He is listening and asking questions to the teachers of the law. I would have loved to have heard the questions He asked. I would have loved to have seen His years as a child, as a teenager and as a young man. Those thirty years, what a life He must have lived, a good life, and ordinary life, a fun life, a full life, Jesus the man. Then starts the Life of Jesus as we know it. Not every minute of every day of course, but the bible says that the gospels are a record of everything that Jesus began to do and to say. Jesus explodes on the scene with the performance of His first miracle. Turning the water to wine at the marriage feast. The atmosphere is festive, The bride is beaming the groom is having the time of his life. The biggest mistake they made was to not order enough wine for the guests, the good news is they invited Jesus to the wedding. When the wine runs out the bride and groom begin to panic, everything was going so good, this is going to be the memory of a lifetime. What is everyone going to think of us. This is the memory we will have for a lifetime. And then Jesus with a little push from His mom steps out to save the day. This is Jesus, He is able to save the day. How does He know what to do? Where did the ideas come from? John 2 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!” 11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him Nobody but Jesus, His mother, the disciples, The bride and groom and the servants knew what had just happened. The Guests commended the bride party for saving the best wine for last. Jesus... for the first 18 years of my life I knew very little about Him. I never imagined the idea of a personal relationship. I met Him I fell in love with Him. I'm the woman weeping at His feet, I'm Lazarus raised from the dead, I'm Peter stepping out of the boat, I'm doubting Thomas. I'm the man sitting at His feet, set free and so grateful and so in love with him.
