Glory in the
The words of the apostle Paul to the Ephesians, The living word of God has stirred up my faith once again. It’s challenging, its empowering, it’s invigorating, It’s more powerful than any two edged sword. But the implication, the message the promise, the revelation in these words are waking up my inner man and stirring up a new level of faith inside of me.
Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV)
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
I want to break this down as much for myself as for your benefit
.
Now! Right now! I like it when God says “Now”. It’s like then was then but now is now. “Now” He says in another verse “I do a new thing, “Now” it shall spring forth! (Isaiah 43:19) It’s going down right now, it’s already begun to happen. Not someday, not next week but now.
To Him who is able! Yes Yes Yes!! God is able. Half of the battle of faith is to fully believe that God is able. Don’t worry about what He is going to do or when and how He is going to do it. Just believe with all your heart that God is able to do anything. “All things are possible with God” “All things are possible to him that believes” The three hebrews didn’t know what God what going to do, how He was going to do it or even if God was going to do it. But one thing they knew was that God was able to do it.
Mark 9:23
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Daniel 3:17
If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.
Exceedingly Abundantly Above! We can ask we can imagine and still our prayers wane and our imagination falls short of Gods ability to perform. To think that we sometimes think we have a great vision and big dreams and yet what we ask or imagine do not even begin to make a demand on Gods resources. No wonder the scripture says “My God shall supply all your needs, according to His riches in heaven”. Not according to earthly resources but according to His unlimited inexhaustible resources.
But here comes the part we didn’t expect; us working with God, God working with us, God working in us, through us…
“according to the power that works in us” He has already given us what we need. He Himself lives in us. He has given us faith, hope, love. He has given us a new nature a divine nature. He gave us gifts. The power that works in us is the power of God. Limited only by our humanity our doubts and fears. If we can live in that power, move in that power, speak in that power. Endless victories, abundant provision, Joy unspeakable, peace that passes all understanding.
To Him be the glory in the church! Not to us but to the one who sent His son, gave us light and then faith to believe in the light. He alone is worthy of praise. We should not cease to shout out His praises for the great things He has done, is doing and will continue to do for those who love Him. He receives glory in his church. When the church walks as Christ in the world, He receives glory, when the church walks in love and unity, he receives glory, When the church lives a life of faith and purity, he receives glory. Not just now but for generations to come.
Amen
